- Action Item: John will look into a plaque or some way to thank donors, esp Campbell Scientific
- $1000 to be donated from Horas Mann (Northern Utah United) to help with outdoor garbage cans
- Benches: We are looking for donors to help purchase 6-8(maybe up to 10) at the cost of $800/each
- Action Item: Please be on the lookout for businesses or individuals willing to donate. If you are talking to anyone, please update the council so that we aren’t all bothering the same people

- 660 West (south of 2600 South) Parking Concerns
- Parents parking on both sides of the road to wait for their children which creates a hazard for walking children or vehicles trying to get in and out of that street. There is no sidewalk on either side of the road there
- Action Item: Cindy will send out a safety reminder to parents in coming weeks reminding parents of the safe routes, as well as encouraging parents parking along 660 West south of 2600 South to go elsewhere to pick up their children (the pick-up lines clear out in less than 10 min!)

Discussion Items:
- Welcome - John
- Minutes presented by Sam, Approved: 1st Sara, 2nd Kim
- Binder Update: Cindy handed out the 2025/26 schedule and roster, TSSA plan update, and 2025/26 School Plan
- Website Review - Audrie
- SCC is under the “About Us” tab. The search function is now just our school instead of searching the whole district. The website can be switched to different languages with the button with a flag on it on the bottom right
- School Safety - Melissa
- The state has a safety council that directs protocols - For example, doors must be locked, magnets cannot be used to keep the door ajar. Pinch guards are used by a lot of teachers, but technically, this is also not allowed. Doors must either be closed and locked or all the way open. The district is working with the State to allow the use of pinch guards.
- There is a new valley-wide emergency app and standard response protocols
- An additional camera will be installed on the 3rd portable so that the parking lot and north pick up line are more visible ($1500).
- Needs: new walkie-talkies, buzzer for outside doors to alert when a door is propped open($200/each)
- TSSA funds can be used if we write a goal
- Digital Citizenship - Sarah Larsen
- The state made a change, and Sarah can no longer prepare the curriculum for Digital Citizenship - a licensed and certified teacher has to do it now. Canyons School District shared their binder, and the first lessons were taught Sept 29-Oct 2. Moving forward, a combination of that and CommonSense Media will be used.
- Lessons to be taught Jan 5-9, Feb 17-20, and April 13-17

- Safe Routes Review: Cindy
- An updated map was provided for the council to review
- The green lines to the east and south of Elkhorn Park need to be removed - there is no sidewalk on those streets, and so it is not a safe path for children to walk, especially when cars park on both sides of the narrow road to pick up children(Which has been discouraged)
- Logan City does not care to provide a crossing guard or any signage to help students cross the road south of Strata, so is marked with a caution sign
- 2026-27 Update: Cindy
- Teacher Movement: 6th grade teachers will move to middle school, Sandy Curtis is retiring, and her position will not be filled with another teacher unless enrollment increases
- Building usage - should art and music move from the portables to the current 6th grade classrooms? Maybe it would be better for SPED teachers to utilize those classrooms? If SPED teachers moved, they would have more room, and the rooms across from the office could be utilized by Mrs. Paulsin.
- It was suggested to move reading groups to the room currently used by Mrs. Curits, and then, if another teacher did end up being hired, it would be easier to move reading groups back to the portable.
- SIP Draft: Cindy
- Goals - 2 goals (math and reading) for K-3rd grade, and 2 goals (math and reading) for 4th and 5th grades. The documents with the goals and test scores were provided for the committee to review. No changes were suggested.
- The plan needs to be submitted by the end of March. The SIP committee will meet again to finalize the draft. It will only be brought back to SCC if there are major changes proposed.
- Potential areas for funding

- Safe Routes Review
- John and Cindy met with Nibley City
- This summer, the city will be widening the sidewalk to 9ft along our walking route at 2600 South and installing curb and gutter. They will also be removing the “No Student Pick-up” signs on a trial basis.
- A yield sign was put on the safe walk plan for the street east and south of Elkhorn Park. Nibley City will be installing “No student pick-up” signs along the street east of Elkhorn Park this summer.
- Larry Jacobson (Nibley Mayor) will be talking to the new Logan City mayor (Mark Anderson) regarding safe crossing for Strata children. A rapidly flashing beacon crossing would be ideal; however, both cities would have to agree and split the cost.
- John and Cindy met with Nibley City
- Fundraiser Information
- Hawk walk is Tues and Wed this week. The school will be handling the money for the fundraiser in place of the PTA so that it can be better used for school needs, such as field trips and replacing tables in the library. The PTA is providing logistical support/volunteers. The weather should be good for the Hawk Walk!
- SIP Review: A copy was given to counsel members to review. Each grade level made specific goals.
- SLT Plan Review: 2025/26 data and 2026/27 plan were provided to counsel members for review. The end-of-year data for this year will be added as testing completes. There is only 1 goal in the plan this year: the majority of the funding will go toward aides and Chromebook purchases/maintenance.
- Parent Input Forms are due by May 1 - not used to indicate teacher preference, rather to help identify the needs of the children that should be taken into consideration when creating classes for next year.
- Committee Members for SCC 2026/27
- Sarah Bodily will be the chair
- Returning: Kim, Nicole, Sara, Sarah, John, and likely Chad
- John will check-in with Chad, Sarah will check-in with Keisha
- Sam will not be returning, so we will need to hold elections for at least 1 parent position for next year
